*Objective:* To analyze the vulnerabilities of women cared for in a
Reference Center to Women in Situation of Violence. *Method: *Qualitative
study, from semi-structured interviews with 15 women, in 2017 and 2018.
Data analysis occurred through thematic content analysis.* Results:* The
category “vulnerability of women in situation of violence” covered social
isolation, fear, or shame in denouncing, financial dependence, loss of
freedom, fragile self-esteem, lack of formal support, decision to denounce
and seeking help, interpersonal bond, protective measure, and difficulty of
access to information. *Conclusions:* Vulnerability was apprehended in its
individual and programmatic dimensions, inter-related with the social
dimension. These vulnerabilities must be considered in the formulation of
policies for care of women in situation of violence, given that it is the
first step for gender equality and eliminate violence against women.

*Objective:* To identify the sociodemographic and health characteristics of
the elderly in the Life Center programs in four municipalities of the
department of Meta, Colombia. *Materials and Methods: *Descriptive study
with quantitative variables, non-probabilistic design with selection of
units by discretionary sampling, in a sample of 819 older adults. A
cognitive evaluation was carried out, along with depression scale, basic
activities of daily living, evaluation of gait and balance, index for the
instrumental activity of daily living, and comorbidity index. *Results: *The
multiple correspondence analysis indicates independent men with absence of
non-depressive comorbidity and null risk of falls. In turn, women (profile:
without studies, widowed) do have comorbidity, cognitive impairment,
dependence, and greater fall risk. *Conclusions:* It is fundamental to work
on strengthening the formation of professionals, community agents,
caregivers of older adults, as well as in the development of programs for
health promotion that foster active aging.

*Objective: *To investigate evidence on the use of social networks to
collect data in scientific productions in the health area. *Material and
method:* An integrative literature review from primary studies indexed in
the SciELO, PubMed, LILACS, Scopus, and Web of Science platforms.
*Results: *16 scientific articles were selected, of which nine focused on
the use of WhatsApp; five, on the use of Facebook; and two, on employing
Twitter to collect data in scientific productions. Growth was noted on the
number of investigations associated to the use of social networks, although
an important paradigm still exists related to the use to generate
scientific evidence, resulting in a still low number of investigations on
this theme. *Conclusions:* The health area needs to approach evermore the
development of research associated to social networks, given that this
would enable a viable and rapid intervention in obtaining responses,
besides being a low cost and very promising tool for data collection.

*Objective:* This work sought to describe the meanings constructed by
patients with coronary disease (PCD) the communication process used by
nurses during the transition from the hospital (coronary care unit) to the
home for therapeutic adherence. *Method:* The article corresponds to a
qualitative study, which used an approach through grounded theory. The
participants were 12 informants from the city of Medellin, Colombia. Data
reliability was guaranteed.* Results: *Construction of a theoretical
postulate: “Reconstructing the significance of treatment: from the
indifference to reviving with a dialogic bond that relieves”. The process
faced by PCD, derived from the communication process, goes from “living in
ignorance”, “experiencing rupture with the treatment” to “reconstructing:
finding sense” and, finally, “finding a state of harmony: new learnings”.
This last achievement is obtained when creating awareness in the “dialogic
bond that relieves”. *Conclusions:* The meaning granted by PCD to the
communication process for therapeutic adherence is established when
reaching transformation and expanding the conscience (creating awareness)
in a “dialogic bond that relieves”; likewise, when this process is full of
apathy and indifference, the sense of the treatment is lost.

*Objective: *To validate the content and appearance of an instrument to
evaluate knowledge on healthy feeding. *Materials and Methods: *Methodological
study of validation of content, appeareance with 22 judges, and semantic
validation with 12 schoolchildren from 4th and 5th grades in primary school
education, ranging in age between nine and ten years. The Scale-Level
Content Validity Index (S-CVI) ≥ 0.90 and the Item-Level Content Validity
Index (I-CVI) ≥ 0.80 were considered approved in the validation. The
Binomial test was used through the p value of the proportion (rejecting the
H0 if p ≤ 0.80) to select items that should be revised or modified (items
validated at significance level ≤ 0.05). *Results:* The instrument was
validated with S-CVI = 0.93 and I-CVI ≥ 0.80 in the 12 items evaluated,
with the mean proportion of “non-discordance” among judges = 0.93. The
instrument with the suggested modifications was submitted to the target
audience and completely approved by all the participating students.
*Conclusion:* This instrument can be used during the health education
activities of the School Health Program and the Family Health Program to
promote healthy feeding with children between nine and ten years of age.

*Objective:* To understand relationships of power according to gender
experienced in scenarios of professional performance by Colombian female
physicians. *Materials and Methods:* Qualitative study with
phenomenological approach, from in-depth interviews to 33 female
physicians, ranging in age between 29 and 60 years, and with over five
years of professional exercise. Between October 2017 and March 2018, with
prior informed consent, the interviews were conducted with questions about
the relationships of power and the inequalities experienced with their male
colleagues in scenarios of professional performance. *Results: *In the
reports by the female physicians interviewed, it is possible to perceive
gender inequalities in wages, forms of hiring, responsibilities assigned,
recognition by the patients, and access to positions of power in comparison
with their male colleagues. *Conclusions:* Medicine maintains a power
structure centered on men, with differential opportunities by gender, and
characterized by a lower wage, more responsibilities, lesser recognition,
and limited access to positions of prestige for women. This phenomenon
needs to be explored in other professionals from the health area.

*Objective: *To determine the perceived burden and functional status of
gastric cancer patients with gastrectomy in a center of cancer in Bogota
(Colombia) between 2013 and 2016. *Materials and methods:* Retrospective
description of patients intervened by gastrectomy distributed in three
groups: Patients with gastrectomy from 1 to 12 months of surgical
intervention, 13 to 14 months and 25 to 36 months. For this, it was used
the disease burden perception instrument and the Karnofsky scale.
*Results: *127 patients were included. 63 from 1 to 12 months, 43 from 13
to 24 months, and 21 from 25 to 36 months of intervention. Gastric
adenocarcinoma of intestinal pattern stage III and II predominate. More
than 50 % of the patients required total gastrectomy and received adjuvant
chemotherapy. The majority of participants performed regular activities
with mild signs and symptoms, presented low overall perceived burden and
functional performance without statistically significant differences
between groups. Patients from 1 to 12 months of intervention reported
greater levels of physical discomfort.* Conclusions: *In patients with
gastrectomy for gastric cancer, physical symptoms persist such as emotional
disturbances, economic difficulties and limitations in the work role,
findings to be included in follow-up programs.

*Objective:* To investigate the concordance between the modified Framingham
score using the ankle-brachial index and the high-sensitivity C-reactive
protein with the other scores. *Materials and method:* Cross-sectional
study nested with a cohort, with elderly population, from January to March,
2018. The population characterization was presented as mean, median,
absolute and relative frequencies according to degree of normality. The
Kappa concordance of the modified Framingham score was calculated with the
Framingham score itself, with the Systematic Coronary Risk Evaluation
(Score) and with the Prospective Cardiovascular Munster (Procam).
*Results:* The
modified Framingham score shows moderate Kappa concordance with the
Framingham score and the Score (p < 0.001), but weak with Procam. The
ultra-sensitive C-reactive protein presented more reclassification of
individuals among risk strata than the ankle-brachial index. *Conclusions:* The
Framingham score modified with the Framingham score itself, and then with
the Score obtained a higher proportion of concordant cases in the high-risk
stratum. High-sensitivity C-reactive protein and the ankle-brachial index
modify cardiovascular risk as emerging factors to provide an accurate risk
stratification and to infer better management of the therapy. Thus, the
Framingham score with its reclassification is the best screening tool for
cardiovascular risk.
